Inland waterways helmsman course.

No one ever agrees with me but i think trying to hold station is the best practice you can ever do for boat handling .
Just pick a point on the river ( a tree or something ) and try and sit there with the point in the same spot . Once you have mastered that then you can plonk your boat where you want .
Probably best done on your own as its not much fun for the rest of the crew .
Once you have mastered that take the sides off the canopy and try it with the big wind catcher chucking you all over the river .
Find a quiet spot as doing this mid river would be silly .

We have had offers of help which is wonderful. I must say not being used to people offering to help it's restored my faith in people.

Thank you to all that have offered, please don't take offense if we do not avail you of your services, but do please come say hello if you see us, so we can look confused while we work out forum names to match boat names to match real names.:D

You are members! We have your money - LOL! :D

Anyway, I think John was referring to the Committee page on the web site:
http://www.braycruiserclub.co.uk/default.asp?action=committee&template=1

In his case, boat name reveals all. Some are more 'incognito' on here, but it will be fun trying to work it out ;)

I feel like I am looking through those police line up books and can't work out who did it..... :D

Seriously though. Nice to see faces but will still be confused later... lol

I wouldnt worry about looking a fool by shouting . Just wait untill you are in a packed lock mid season and see all the men shouting at thier wives because they cant handle the boat :D

There was the picture postcard, circa 2000, of Sonning Lock with a couple in their boat; problem was the guy was married and the "lady" pictured on the boat wasn't his wife! Dunno what the outcome of this was

My kids have been known to call me the exorcist mother, because when I lose my temper it looks like my head is going to spin round... :D

Hi HoneyMommy,
Yes you did see us both. :)
I would also highly recommend the 'Watercraft' team.
Tim has taught my daughter Sarah and myself the Marine VHF Course and my son Alex and myself Kayaking 2 star courses.

They are very good!

Hello :). I will shout next time. Lol.

Ian is doing the VHF course in a couple of weeks at bisham. I plan to do it soon and I think perhaps we will start looking at other courses later.

Will you both be at the club maintenance weekend? If so see you both there. :)
