"In build", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

Re: \"In build\", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

The tumble drier itself had to be taken apart to get it thru the 500mm door to the utility room. As you can imagine, elec screwdriver and 100 self tappers later, it's a pile of sheet metal and plastic bits and wires on the floor, plus the drum. The drum is only about 499mm front to back, if the bearing set is removed. Then I put it back together immediately, before I forgot, and am proud to say I only had 15 self tappers left over :-)

I just fancied a change from blue/navy covers, that's all. No good reason And yes EBY have done much above and beyond the call of duty. All very helpful, thru and thru

Lumishore are unique, the only RGB controllable u/w lights available in the world currently. A great British engineering success as Wakeup said :-)

[/ QUOTE ]Mmmm... I'm afraid I really don't remember where I saw another similar boating application, and I wouldn't bet my right hand on that, anyway.
But the only RGB controllable u/w light it definitely can't be, simply because I have some at home since a couple of years. At home, yeah. Rated IP68 (submersible to 15m), and remotely controllable either via local i/r or even web browser. But please don't ask - I'm not willing to afford a divorce...
I'll pm you more details later from home.

Re: Impressive job indeed

Ah yes that is true Mapis. You can get them for hot tubs. I have, erm, experienced those too. But let's not go there...

OK, Lumishore are the only proper boat RGB LED lights :-)

Re: \"In build\", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

Yeah it works.

Oh stoppit stoppit stoppit all you "warranty worriers"!!!!!!!

It's frigging tumble drier, costing £400 from Currys in the UK. I've had all the sheet metal bent and cut at the bottom left hand corner, the left hand feet sawn off and welded in a new position, attached hold-down brackets, installed it on a boat, and in a few weeks it'll be in France. Do you think I give a flying fart about the warranty FFS? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We gotta have a rule around here then when something gets modded no-one's allowed to say teeth suckingly "careful of the warranty" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: \"In build\", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

All right then, fancy a debate about the insurance on a Walker Bay with 40hp?

Hey jfm surely a "flying fart" is a turd!

And for those that don't know,a fart is the scream of an imprisoned turd!

Great boat btw, I'm so glad you fitted that tumble dryer.

(private joke) Thanks jfm.

Re: \"In build\", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

Oh perleeeeeze!!! I actually tried to get a 30hp but yam are not importing them to UK till March 09 (these are the new EFIs). So I got the 40...

Seriously, I have asked the dealer (who is an ex-Mercury Racing team mechanic - top bloke) to run it in test tank with prop on, wind in throttle stop screw to reduce top rpm by 500, and mark the screw with the original and -500rpm settings. And I have ordered a 30hp decal. I might, for my own personal use, wind the throttle screw back to 40hp but for other people's and paid captain/crew use it will be limited to 30hp /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: \"In build\", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

Thanks for your comments, I know it isn't really a very easy retro fit option, it's much easier designing a boat around the drives like Ocean have with their new 64 or Marex with the 370.

But actually the work involved is minimal, we use the same P brackets, and the tube can be mounted through the hole that took the stern gland so it can be undone.

My comment on the warranty was just to agree that finding good engineers and being confident in their work is something we struggle with sometimes as well, but we are completely confident in the reliability. They have been in use for more than 10 years on hard working sportfish boats out of Florida.

We've told a commercial fishing boat with them that had blown the rear seals (before quicKutters were fitted as standard) to carry on for another 500hrs so we could see what happened to the bearings running in seawater. They were running quite happily.

Wow looks as if you have hours of fun creating a really superbly specked Sq58, I hope you enjoy her out on the water in the years to come thanks for sharing with us all

Great boat. Really like the tweaks, particularly the helm seats.

Do you also have a bimini over the flybridge table?

Re: \"In build\", sort of, pics of Sq58 - long/lots pics

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone.

Yes CPlaya, there will be a black bimini over the flybridge dining table. I just haven't got round to installing it yet! :-)
