Could someone point me in the right direction for info on which ports can be used as a port of entry to the UK, if I were to sail a yacht from the States and wish to import her to the UK.
thanks

Also the RYA data sheet on the new UKCA requirements.

You may need to re-engine to meet the emissions.

Port of entry is irrelevant. Here is the official guidance www.gov.uk/guidance/sailing-a-pleasure-craft-that-is-arriving-in-the-uk As you will see there is no formal port of entry. Notification to customs is via the Yachtline who will tell you what to do. There is also reference in there to the specialist unit in Portsmouth that deals with private imports.

However importing a yacht from the US is not easy, primarily because the boat will be required to meet the latest UK standards and this may be relatively straightforward if it is a recent boat built to the EU RCD and has a CE mark but difficult and expensive at best and technically impossible at the worst. If it is an older American built (or far eastern for the American market) it will need a post construction assessment which is likely to be at the impossible end of the scale (at least economically). You will of course also pay VAT on its value when it arrives.

You do not say what the boat is nor why you want to import it, but read the guidance carefully and you may find one of the reliefs that you can use. These are very specific to your circumstances and of course maybe to applicable.

Before even thinking about importing a boat you should seek advice from HMTC for duty and VAT and one of the specialist certification companies such as CEProof. Also worth talking to the RYA if you are a member.
