I\'m in a Dilemma.
Its a long story.
I have my boat. the Huntsman 28, its a boat I am very happy with, the only boat I wanted and just right for my kind of use. To keep well on top of the condition takes about 100 hours a year which I am ok with and enjoy doing, there is more I could do, but in general she's well kept (IMHO).
About 2 years ago I fell for a 23 foot launch by Hubert Scott Paine, 1930's speed boasts are a rarity, the boat had been rebuilt to a very high standard, hull replanked, new deck, very pretty, no engine or steering or tank etc. I bought it, not a huge amount of money. I've not made much progress as I've been working on the restoration of an old car.
Then another Hubert Scott Paine speed boat came along. 20 foot, similar but with really nice flush deck with oval cockpits. Hull ok but deck wrecked, no engine, needs a full on major rebuild.
Then I have the old car, body work done, engine done, needs paint and putting together, plus some spanner work on the suspension, steering and brakes.
My other old car which is fully restored, (not by me) dropped a big end, so I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild and want it finished for early November to go see the London Brighton Run arrive.
As if all the above is less than 15 years of work....which its not...and dont ask about the house...
I had planed to finish the 23 foot Scott Paine boat, sell the huntsman, finish the 20 foot Scott Paine boat and sell the 23, then just hang onto the 20 footer.
Then...
A couple of years ago I popped into Freebody's yard to see a boat I grew up with, its falling into disrepair. 1936 built 32 footer, French, very pretty hull, quite fast and lots of history (straffed in WW2). I wrote 'Please look after Merlin' in the visitor book, they called a few weeks ago, need space in the yard, I can have her for free if I take her away.
I'm not going to do all this ever in a month of sundays, I cant afford to!!!
I have no idea what to do at all. Am at a loss.
So many boats so little time...
