Well, early on last week I saw that Yesterday was gonna be a nice calm sunny day...Just what's needed with a wife and small baby.
I've just moved to a new yard which makes launching and recovering a 1000 times better...I was chomping at the bit to get the old girl in for a spin.
Turns out the gang (friends and babies) were gonna have lunch a few miles up the coast....a plan is hatched, get going early, have a pootle up the coast, have a bit of breaky on the boat, hopefully read the Sunday papers and then head off to meet the gang for lunch.
Turned up at the yard, just chucked the stuff on the boat ready to go...none of this, hitching up to the Discovery, driving to the slip, getting the boat in, sodding around trying to find parking...It was lovely and stress free!
I was towing the dingy so kept the speed down, which with the current fuel price isn't a bad thing, plus she's a bit noisy when opened up.
Thankfully the problem I had with the carb seems to be cured, after the engine had warmed up and had been running for a while, brought it down to tick over and no problems...ah...the sun is shining and so far everything is going swimmingly.
Dropped the anchor and was tucking into my breakfast when some proper numpty kept going past in his speed boat and wake board. There was three of us at anchor and this guy had so much open space but no...he had to keep going past kicking up a proper silly wash...It was getting close to the time we said we'd meet the guys so we headed off.
This beach is very shallow right the way out so dropped the anchor when I'd got close enough and rowed in with the dingy.
The sea is still a tad cold but me and the little one had a paddle..can't wait for the sea to warm up a bit as the little'un seems to love the sea.
I think mum was relieved to get the little one on solid ground as everything on the boat is reachable by little hands. Last time the baby was on the boat she wasn't moving so life was a bit easier...Now we're crawling and standing there's just so many things we can grab and bang...I did have her on the helm for a bit but we were more interested in eating the rubber steering wheel than making sure we were going in the right direction.
As you can see the gang is nearly out numbered by kids and there are more on the way...at least we're well set up
Ahh time for grub..some lovely fish and salads..obviously washed down with some nice cold beer!
Turns out the head of the Greek communist party was sitting at the table just to the right just inside.....what with all these financial troubles we have, I would have thought she'd be busy at her desk..funny thing was I caught a couple of security guards mooching about and even pointing at my boat...perhaps Tuna was a security risk
Finally on the way back the little one decided enough was enough and passed out...phew!!
Dropped the anchor again and the Mrs and I got to relax a bit and read the news papers.
I even went for a snorkel to check out the bottom of the boat...Sea was a tad cold but growing up on the Thames estuary I braved it.
Then back to the yard...man jumps off his tractor and guides her on...I didn't even need to get my feet wet.
So, fantastic day...until we got back home...whoops someone left the house keys on the swim platform...thankfully wife's cousin lives near by with a spare set of keys....oh dam....now I need to get back down the boat again to pickup my keys...oh well, I'm sure I can find a job to do whilst I'm there so it's not a wasted journey
