Looks quite stylish to me.
Not all multihulls are ugly. Most of the racers look good, but then they dont have a whacking great box stuck on the top.

I'll go with that, quite a clever tarting up of what is clearly a more race focused boat.

Yes, I saw one on the pontoon in Lorient a few weeks ago and she certainly looked nice from the outside. It looked (disappointingly) out of my budget. Not sure how well the tacking navigation pod works in reality, though.

I have this image of a tired navigator crashing out at the nav table - the crew tacking the boat, then calling him on deck - and him walking into the forecabin and trying to work out what happened to the cockpit!

Yz. Looks like a dentists' lair. Very smart indeed. But I can't quite see that big reacher being handled by one photogenic Frog, his scrawny bitch, and a pair of barefoot preteens.

Given to me, I'd take it to somewhere where the rum is cheap, the goyls are dear, and swop it for one of these....

While I rather like the concept and the actuality of catamaran sailing, and while I always feel as much freed as frustrated, by the limits and opportunities that two long, narrow hulls and a low-headroom connecting bridgedeck bring, one thing that cat designers haven't generally achieved, must be beauty.

I think the big cat in Lady Campanula's pic isn't at all bad - bigger is so often prettier, with longer hulls allowing a lower coachroof, which looks less awkward. But...

...what the hell are those Lagoon catamarans meant to look like? Were they the result of a moment of moonlighting by BMW's Chris Bangle??

Well, I would agree with Lady C and others above who think that Mr Dick's JP 54 is very smart and gorgeous, never mind that any dentist would be proud to set up shop using that nav module for the patients.....

Although I would still prefer an Outremer (I think that Lady C's photo is one?), if I could afford to pick and choose between multi and mono.

Oh, and Ms Ambrosoli's 'Absolutely Everybody' is absolutely brilliant - I think I have accounted for a fair chunk of the viewing statistics over recent years.....

I couldn't relax in that interior. I'd be to frightened of a lost Blakes Seven cast member popping up. Ugly, ugly, ugly. The outside pic looks different, like a mega sized laser, which is currently fashionable.

As for cats, there are very few pretty ones. But they are very practical and when we're sitting at anchor on our stable platform, enjoying a civilised meal before retiring to our king sized double bed and watching all the monos getting thrown around, we won't be looking at the outside.

At least, I hope so. We shall be getting one as our 'sailaway boat' soon.

Carrying on the SciFi theme, the forecabin "doors" are kinda like Marvin's eyes. (Paranoid android from HGTTG, not the Martian from Bugs Bunny cartoons). Or perhaps a vague hint of Eve from Wall-E?

I still think 60's though, 2001 in particular, and have a feeling that like HAL, the "satellite" would have a mind of it's own when things go wrong.

As for the exterior, is it sensible to have shiny hatches on the side decks like that? (yes, it's a rhetorical question). A curious lack of seating in the cockpit for a cruising boat. A bizarre little angled step for the helm, in a boat that's meant not to heel. And a more extreme triangular shape than any Open classer I'm aware of; what with that and the chines, hmmm.

Yup, "style" over content. A fashion conscious design student's wet dream that'll look good for about as long as it takes for someone in the wrong colour oilies to come on deck, or anything to be left out of the clearly copious lockers down below.

p.s. For such a hot rod, I'm interested to note a CQR in the integrated roller.
