What modifications have you done to enhance your liveaboard existence or to generally make life easier etc. etc.?

Congrats on your new boat. We are, but it's more fun asking questions here. We have had ours a few years now and often we contemplate potential long term stays on board at least. We have added a wind generator, some solar panels, adverc battery management, internal LEDs etc for better power management ( plus petrol suitcase genny) and davits for easier dinghy deployment. I was casually mulling over what to do inside..there is reasonable storage, and as we seldom are more than 2 up , I wondered if folks made better storage space in the forward cabin or over the pilot berth etc. or just general boat management/setup for extended time on board - just in case I wanted to avoid some of the the learning curves.

We are also putting on a solar panel (with goal-posts), extra batteries, large inverter, led lighting. There'll be a crane on the goal-posts to lower the outboard, rather than davits - we won't have a RIB. Not bothering with a wind generator again as they don't add a lot except during long passage-making (but maybe you just want to keep batteries topped while you are off the boat). There's much less storage below than on our old, rather smaller, blue water cruiser; but that doesn't bother us as we won't be needing to carry food and water for 6 months around the Med. Lots of friends and relatives are threatening to visit now we'll be a lot more accessible, so the forward cabin and heads can serve only temporarily as a sail-locker.

What I'd really like is a small workshop: wondering seriously about converting the pilot-berth area into a bench and tool storage. I've seen this done very nicely on a 346.

Had ours 10 years. The only extra storage I made was to cut a hole and fit a lid under the corner seat cushion in the aft cabin, quite a bit of storage space there partly under the corner locker. I think some later boats were built with this mod. Problem is, more storage = more gear on board!

Yes we have that modification and the starter battery lives there. I probably want to squeeze another battery in as the amp/ battery ratio could just about take it. Assuming we do indulge in long terming aboard, I do like the look of some of the fuel cells around but they are pricey...; A water maker would be nice but probably unnecessary if the Med is the area we would be lurking around...; looking at other posts it seems improving fridge efficiency is more of a benefit in warmer climes especially as ours is the original 1990 fitted one and takes the lion share go the power....hmmm

Yes that would be a useful, I think I recall pictures of someone else's conversion at some stage.

I have a Moody 346 but cannot imagine what is meant by "Pilot berth" area to build a work bench. Certainly not in the saloon. Is it referring to the small seat in the aft-cabin I wonder.

If you search the MOA forum and technical articles, most questions should be answered there.

Apologies, may have got the wrong boat - I saw so many in a short space of time while I was looking to buy.

If you're going to spend longer periods in the Med you really MUST install holding tanks...
Also well worth fitting: solar panels, and some means of shading the cockpit and decks: can be a bit tricky to fit a bimini to a centre cockpit, I know...
Improving the fridge's insulation is also a must.
And a foot-operated sea-water pump/tap in the galley will help to save fresh water.
And windscoops!!!
