The OP's particular mode of (brain) failure strikes me as being all too common (done it myself more than once), and another argument for solar panels on any boat that lives on a mooring.

You would think that having boat at bottom of garden etc. is far from such woes ........... no it is not !

Each Gardener I have had - have now has been guilty of unplugging the trailing lead to power garden tools - then forgetting to reconnect - which supplies the BBQ and boat area.

On day I will bury the cable and provide exterior sockets around ...

Anyway ... when I move main boat to other side of channel - it will have solar fitted .. to back-up mains ...

I am a great believer in checklists. If it is good enough for astronauts and pilots it is good enough for me.
From my flying days, I learned that checklists are totally invaluable. Boating checklists save that awful moment when 50 miles away when returning home, SWMBO says “you did shut that front hatch didn’t you?” There’s no chance you can be sure!
