Since the melting of Polar Icecaps is supposed to be raising global sea levels.

Well, that's what the papers say, but are they right? Are we worried about the ice around the North Pole or the ice around the South Pole or both or neither? Is there any difference?

Posted in depth on this in scuttlebutt some time back. global warming will cause northern icecap to melt.
however, southern icecap is a desert, it hardly ever snows there. global warming would result in more precipitation, resulting in more snow, and the icecap would increase in thickness resulting in lowering of water levels!
