Hi there. I’m looking for a boat that will sleep 5, as much beam as possible preferably 6ft +. No more than 9 meters. Something that’s not going to leak and we’ll built. Any suggestions?

Rethink your life choices? That's tiny for 5 people even if it wasn't shared with an engine, tanks and shaped like a boat. You'd be condemning yourselves to life as sardines in a plastic box. Not to mention all boats tend to leak eventually.

Every boat that is 9 metres long is going to be much wider than 6 feet - even narrow boats on the canals have a beam of 6'10" usually. The L/B ratio of an 'average' motor boat is around 3, so a 9 m. boat will have a beam of about 3 m. (or 10 feet) - and that is not considered to be 'wide' by any means.
A boat this size would be tight for 2 people to live on comfortably - and there really wouldn't be any spare room for the other 3 to even just visit occasionally on weekends.
Do you want this vessel to be a sedentary house boat, or should it be capable of coastal cruising, or even going offshore?
What sort of speed are you looking for, and what is your available budget to spend on the boat?

It might be worthwhile re-posting your question in the Motorboat Forum as well.

I don't know what your expectations are, but my partners and Iived aboard a 13m flybridge cruiser for 12 years - it was fine when we were on our own but even two visitors caused space and storage problems. And that was in Spain when we could use the outdoors. Can't see how you are going to do it on 9m.

We have just sold our 9m boat last autumn and bought a 13m Princess to live on starting very soon. (5 weeks) The 9m was great for two of us at weekends but too small for a full time liveaboard......no way for 5. Even the Princess which has loads of room for two of us would be a struggle for that number of bodies full time, large or small.

You would be best prepared to answer your own question posted here by attending either boat rallies or any boat shows where you can get on board several vessels. 5 persons on board the above mentioned vessel would be cramped, there would be condensation issues and thats not taking into account cooking on board. Then there is the heads issue...etc.

Well, I have to ask, Are you French ?
They tend to cram 9 people , in a 33 ft boat. Otherwise, expand your searches !
You can not fit a Gallon, in a Pint Pot !
