A new RIB/Dory as a tender for Englander, my Zodiac futura is rapidly giving up the ghost! (4 years old) Mind you not surprising as it gets used everyday for six months of the year at least and the engine (30hp) is 12 years old now, still pulls like a train, but getting a little long in the tooth! OK peeps, whats available in 2.4/3.5 meters with 25/30hp (4 stroke?) motor and what would I expect to pay? Jet RIBs are out, not enough stowing capacity, remember this boat has to carry shopping, crew, water, bikes, drunk skipper and anything and everything else. Input appreciated, dont say go to boat show, in congo! No hurry, this dinghy will do for now, but before next season. I am even thinking rigid dory type, for strength.

Looked at the Valiant range which seems to be well made but reasonable on price. For four stoke engines well theres Honda which everyone raves about or Yamaha that have a good reputation.
As for cost, dunno but they're bound to be cheaper there than here. I know its no help, but whaddya expect from me!!

Thing I like about the Valiant is that the tubes on the bow are "squared"off giving more internal room. Which for your purposes can only be a plus point.
Tho storage of a rib is going to be harder on board, have you thought about one of the inflatables with the airdeck thing. Only ever tried a small tender sized one but was very impressed with it.

Has to be a rigid bottom, no airdecks, I also carry generators and other sharp things!! I have enough trouble repairing leaks in the tubes, I like the Valiant, because they are still hypalon, and its much more abrasion resistant than this new fangled PVC junk!

Errm, Dont think Valiant are Hypalon, think they're PU.
Do you want console/seats or open and tiller steered.
Avon 3.65 might be a goer.

Do want seats, maybe centre console thingy might be better. 3.65 a wee bit big, but maybe, is it a RIB?
