My lad Edward and I had a great weekend on the boat, with a trip out to Pwllheli and an overnight stay with a cloudless sky at night and fair weather to cruise in all day.

One of my favourite poets is an Australian guy by the name of Andrew Barton Paterson - aka "The Banjo". He penned a poem called "Clancy of the Overflow" (amongst a million other bush poems) and this wonderful rhyme goes on to describe how a solicitor in an office has a whimsical wish to change places with an outback drover called "Clancy".

Here I adapt one of the middle verses of this poem to accurately describe my weekend and moreover, Porthmadog Harbour itself - so if you aint ever been there, now is the time...

And the seas hath friends to meet him, and their kindly voices greet him,
In the murmur of the breezes and the waves upon the bars,
And he sees the vision splendid of the mountain range extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars
