I know a sailing couple who have a mog..
It walks down the pontoon with them... though they do carry its favourate basket...

Best way to 'teach' a cat to stay away from your boat (or anything really) is to get a spray bottle, fill it with water and spray the cat when it is doing something you don't want it to do. It works really well and after only a short while, just picking up the spray bottle makes the cat stop/go away.
Loads of strays around the marina here on Langkawi, but only one or two go aboard any boats, and none use boats as toilets, although someone did complain they were, but it was probably a tom spraying.
Nostro, film/photograph the cats peeing and poohing on the neighbouring boats, then show the owners. It's incontroversial proof that it's their cat, coz they will deny it, and then you can make them clean up the mess.

Cats can be killers to asthmatics. My wife has been in ICU several times with asthma attacks, some brought on by cat fur, also fur from small ,fine haired animals like chinchillas, hamsters....strong smells, rotting seaweed, sulphides as in wines,the list is endless.
Prevention is the only answer, inhalers, prednisolone, and avoidance. A pity some people take offence that their dear little moggy can cause problems, but what comes first, ooh, aahing over a cat or survival?

You may have guessed that I dont like dogs much, and that dog owners refuse to accept their lovely doey eyed **** machine could possibly offend anyone else.
I do like cats and can't possibly understand how anyone could fail to love such an adorable bundle of fluff. See what I mean?
I hate to see all animals on boats, not only is it cruel IMHO, but people seem to think that everyone will sympathise with their yappy annoying rat on a string in a marina or beach or some lumbering over friendly saliva dribbling mouldy smelling cur that wouldn't hurt a soul.

I agree with all but the last; when dogs rip faces they are put down and everyone is relieved. When cats butcher wildlife cat owners protest their dear little tiddles would never do such a thing and the bloody things carry on the wholesale butchery unhindered.
If dogs ripped faces on the scale that cats kill wildlife there would be no human life left in most parts of the world, and most certainly so in UK.

dog walkers pick up their dog doos, put them in plastic bags and then lob the bags in the general direction of the sea

cat owners just leave it
and as for seagulls - spent this weekend painting the exterior walls of my inlaws house
this morning as we were leaving noticed that the first seagull did its stuff
swmbo made me go up the ladder and paint over it
used to love seagulls
