Sailbad, I worry about you ..

Just why are you screaming "Take me" as you bend down to pick up a pin in the shower?

I told work last year that I was going to do this - it takes some balls to make the decision and I admire you for doing it. Problem is, they came back and offered me a sabbatical, which is difficult to say no to, even if its not what was originally intended. At least it allows us to go sailing for 8 months or so.

Anyway, we're off on a similar route to you - leaving early May for s coast, france, biscay spain/portugal and then who knows - nice to get into the med and then either lay up in france or come back thru canals. Maybe see you somewhere.....

You can’t resign, what happens is that you get gassed and then wake up in a village somewhere, with a number instead of a name and great big plastic balls chasing you around.

You ought to say when and where you will be when you come back, may as well try building up a cliental now.

Good Luck.

We're doing the same! Except we plan to go th West Coast Scotland. (We intend saving your route for another year as we might not want to come back from where you're going!) We're currently parked just over the road from you so if you if you fancy a natter...

Pin man

Donald Pleasance, dear boy.

Forges all our YM certificates, VHF licences, CEVNI documents, etc.
Can't quite remember, but he might also make fake Musto Offshore oilies from old blankets.
Eyesight's not so hot nowadays, so he'll be skipper when we exit Portsmouth full speed ahead.

> starting May 1st. I then intend to come back and use my experience

I think a series of short term sabbaticals like this are more rewarding than the sell up and sail option.

ho ho ho

we will see,
i have just sold two biz, approx 10 jobs gone, i flatly refuse to employ any one in my remaining one cause of the overwhelming interference and eu laws that are making my job as an employer unbearable.
we small businesses are the ones that make the money for these tosspots in power to spend on their social experiments.
its starting to unravel and will end in tears as any one over fifty will recall from when they were in power before.

More of a cock up

What, you mean more of a cock up that the other lot, who anyone over 25 can remember?

Cock ups are not confined to any political party - they're all good at it!

Re: ho ho ho

hhmmmm. Unless you have some special talent, it's employing people that makes people either wealthy or not. As an employed person I am pleased to try and make my employer as wealthy as possible, true capitalist values despite the socialist & bureacratic environment. It doesn't get any easier, requires almost constant change and extra work and; will no doubt all end in tears - when we finally turn our toes up:)

Re: More of a cock up

Its already very much more of a cock up than the other lot over only 5 years. At least the "other lot" took 18 years and the general standard of living improved greatly. It's dropping with this lot who try to spin everything to look good, accept no personal responsibilty while everything is deteriorating.

Their only response to any problem is "chuck money at it and hope it goes away" Its our money. Their ministers won't even pay the new London congestion charge, we will!.

Political squabbling is for the BBC

Come on chaps. religion and politics are the only true no-win subjects to argue about and as such the most boring. Bring on sex, gratuitous violence and the dancing girls (or boys if you are that way inclined) and have a bit of fun.

the other lot

pulled us out of the mire when this lot put us where we are fast heading, red robbo, inflation, unions, strikes, bodies in reefers etc etc
get real!!!!
at least they only did a bit of extra marital and plain greed not kick democracy into touch!!
Thatcher brought this country kicking and screaming into the 20th century and built the foundations for the prosperity we are fast losing.
