hydraulic tilt

hi i have just bought a n out board engine for my boat. But i have too remove it from the other boat first. It has a hydraulic tilt fitted too it and i was wondering how to drain this out. I cant do it through the pump because for one i cant get too it and two it dont work. Can i drain it through the nipples on the top of each of the rams. Lastly i have nobody else who can help me too remove the engine from the boat is it possible for one person too lift a 60 outboard engine. As you can probably tell im not very experienced at this sort of thing so any info i can get would be greatfully appreciated.

[/ QUOTE ] You should be able to find the weight of the engine from the manufacturer's specification on the web. Given that modern 60 HP outboards weigh upwards of 110kg, I doubt that removing one safely is possible without both experience and proper lifting gear.

Why do you want to drain the hydraulic rams? They are sealed and unless the seals have gone the fluid will not drain out while you move it, if they are the same as my Yamaha 50 they come off with the engine mounting plate therefore no need to touch them to remove the engine. To remove a 60 hp engine usually you need to disconnect the control cables, and electrics and fuel line, then unbolt the engine from the transom, mine is thru-bolted with three normal bolts and a special anti theft locking “nut” on the fourth but as Freestyle say’s it will be VERY heavy. A couple of strong men may be able to move it a short distance, but an engine crane or something would be better, you will be able to find the exact weight on the web I am sure.
