I lived in the Cradley area when young for a while.
Even in the 70s those women were tough but nice honest folk.

Yes I used to live near Cradley , Stourbridge and Bromsgrove. My MIL worked at stewart Crystal in Stourbridge when young and I met lots of guys who worked at Round Oak steel works.

Bromsgrove was centre of nail making that used to be made by all the family in the back yard both men and women very tuff men and women

Cradley Heath were a great Speedway town. Their boys were the tops.

One night at Oxford Speedway where I was the Trainer and Assistant CofC, Cradley were the visiting opposition.

It was a tense match, lots of Cradley fans had turned up and were giving it large with their war cry of "Ommer 'em 'ammers!"

One group were very smart, suits, tie and shiny shoes, atire not often seen on the terracing at a Speedway meeting.

Young Anthony Brown, son of my old mate Dickie Brown who was our long time driver and helper during FM's and my racing efforts, asked his Dad "Are they executive chainmakers Dad?"

Although he was only 13, he was fast developing a wicked sense of humour......................................;)
