Really annoys me to see people abusing equipment like this, must be the engineer in me. A bit like the overgrown spoilt brats who buy the latest iphone and then deliberately drop it to see if it's smash proof

My little 2 horsepower one was probably seriously abused on charter boats before I had it, but it never failed to start and run OK. It was also light enough to lift on and off the dinghy.

What is the engine of choice among the ship highjackers?
The engine of choice out here in the Caribbean is the Yamaha Enduro 15hp 2 stroke. Probably more if those than any other engine. Closely followed by Tohatsu 9.8hp 2 stroke

Can't speak for their Outboard engines but I had Yamaha XJ900F road bike for years and it was ultra reliable. Gave it to my son with nearly 67,000+ miles on the clock and he still uses it daily as a 60 mile commuter. Great engine. (y)

I dropped my Yamaha 2hp 4 stroke in seawater 2m depth about 10 years ago. Left in shed for a week before cleaning up and changing oil.... Running perfectly before and since...
