The "SD" in SD card stands for "secure digital" - I assumed it was not trivially possible to copy chartplotter cartography, otherwise surely lots of people would be doing it?They'll be pirate copies, that's why there will be no updates.

I can't say for sure that you're wrong, but there are multiple vendors selling non-updatable Navoinics at similar prices and I'd have thought that eBat would be cracking down on them if they were illegal copies.
