Hi,

Anyone know how to remove the Hammar inflator on a Crewsaver lifejacket?

I'm getting bored screwing the bottle back on every time I use it and want to pop a drop of torqueseal on th thread. Trouble is the bottle is inside the lifejacket and I need to take the mechanism out to get at it.

I know the replacements come with a key but I'm too stingy to buy one.

Thanks in advance

Rob.

You don't need a key. Use a 2 pence piece; insert it between the yellow and black parts of the Hammar device at the bottom corner next to the manual inflation toggle and turn it anti-clockwise. The hammar device then lifts off. Re-assembly is the reverse of the dismantling process (as someone once said) but you can twist the two halves of the hammar back in to alignment by hand.

Suggest inflation test

I serviced a couple of lifejackets with Hammar inflation devices and one of them deflated over night. Crewsaver replaced it free of charge. I have heard that you need to reassemble very carefully to avoid a problem; I don't know if this was the problem.
