How to Get to London ?

We are off on the non tidal Thames in a few weeks and Wifey would like a day in London.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this. We can't go all the way there by boat as we usually do because of time restrictions. I would assume the train is the easiest method, but where should we leave the boat ? Whats the best station to get to from the River ?

Starting our cruise from Benson and heading downstream, happy to consider any ideas.

Where are you wanting to start from? Trains are v easy from Windsor and get easier as you get down to Teddington. All are SW Trains into L Waterloo.

So Windsor, Staines, Hampton Court (slower), Teddingotn, Twickenham etc

It's more a matter of where to leave the boat safely.
Visitor moorings at:-
Harleyford, taxi to High Wycombe train to Marylebone
MDL Bray taxi to Maidenhead
MDL Windsor taxi to Windsor - choice of two trains
Kingston - public moorings - train to Waterloo?
Hampton Court - public moorings - bit safer; know anyone ay TMYC? train
Teddington lock (see other threads), bus to Kingston or Richmond, trains at both District Line at Richmond.

TFL day tickets covering buses and trains available at good prices.

Make sure you get the fast one ! There are two stations a fast from wind and eaton river will have you into wloo in bout hour and is most scenic.

Will do. 10ish, no stops, Waterloo at 11. Same coming back.

I'd be interested in your overall route...?

We spend a couple of weeks a year on the Thames, usually launch at Benson and head down to St Katherines.

If you mean the full route then its M62. M6, M40 and A34
