How rusty is too rusty for an anchor?

Turns out - about 3hrs drive from me is a HDG factory that do small and big jobs ... my Pal offered that anytime I need - just give to him and they'll include in their orders ..

Still gonna use Hammerite at present ...
 
If they were mine I would get them grit blasted then visually inspect and if looks OK get then Galvanizes.

There is a forum member in scotland the does galvanizing . don't know how far they are form Oben

Highland Galvanisers, operations in both Cumbernauld and Inverness.

I am sure they will be galvanising the Knox Anchor

In Australian terms Cumbernauld and Inverness are just down the road from Oban. :)

An anode would not help at all. The vast majority of such corrosion takes place in air, not on the seabed. E.g. anode bolts on hulls only rust in the yard.
