how much are you willing to pay for a taxi ashore ?

Water taxi in cowes seem to have gone downhill from east cowes since demise of Sally but maybe more money to be had operating as a substitute chain ferry. As it costs £1 to cross the medina on FB6 a taxi for £2 seems a bargain. Talking of safety though the Folly pontoons was were I once found a fully dress bather clinging to the side of a pontoon after he misused his dinghy - amazing how heavy he was but don’t know much he had eaten at the Folly though. I guess from a safety perspective those returning from a boozy night at folly might consider price a good investment .
 
Though I’m well aware of the stats around drowning and tenders, I do think 100 metres in smooth sheltered water, sober, you’ve not got much to worry about. With all due respect, Captain, you’re a bit over cautious.
 
We don’t have many water taxis around here...but I have noticed that it’s getting increasingly difficult to find a place that you are allowed to come ashore with a tender during the season
 
Given the price of electric outboards, perhaps a minor enhancement would be a self-drive arrangement. Then although you could pilot yourself ashore to a landing stage, the tender would return to the yacht on its own to await your summons to return and fetch you...

Do you drive a Tesla?
 
The very BEST thing to have happened in years , whats that , starting a FERRY /TAXI service in crowded Moorings areas ; all that cluter of many dinghys stacked up on the shore , most Dinghys are well passed their 'use by date' , there is a belief that the rougher the Dingy apearance the safer it will be left along the Shore Line , yea , maybe , but what a sight them are !

For the cost of a Coffee drink to get taken to ones boat is real boating experience , inflateables are for Paddle Boarders and Children , surely ?
 
Inflatables are yacht tenders. They are for getting to your boat, wherever and whenever you consider it safe to do so. Even in our highly popular area-the ferry service isn’t 24/7. We’d be able to do about 1/4 of the visits to our boat if we were solely reliant on the ferry. It’s ridiculous to suggest that only the ferry is safe enough.
