Just curious, I'm on my boat for the night with heaters on. Hopefully a quick sail tomorrow too around the maintenance. Anyone else on board?
 
Nope. All the cushions are packed away to keep them clean while I rip down headlining, drill holes in the deck, drip epoxy and sikaflex around the place, and (last night) dismantle the engine compartment and spill moderate quantities of diesel everywhere.

Despite the building site conditions, though, I have been on board for a couple of evenings till past midnight, drinking beer and showing mates the new boat.

I was going to go down to the boat this weekend but she only needs the sails putting on, batteries in so will wait another couple of weeks. I have splashed out and booked an engineer to do my engine, valves, anodes etc Servicing the heads is a job I keep putting off...
 
Mine is at home for the weekend. I'm doing some woodworking and electrics as wife is away in London. I've had a great day today, including a couple of breaks drinking tea in the cockpit. :D

I've been up the mast today, for the first time, running a new radar cable and replacing the foghorn that I foolishly allowed to fill with rainwater while the mast was lying down. Had to send the soldering iron down to my mate on deck to be lit and sent back up, too much wind to light it where I was!

Anyway, reason to quote Russell is that on regaining the deck after about an hour of hanging about, I had an overwhelming urge for a big mug of tea. The galley is now operational again, with the stack of headlining panels taken off it and put back where they belong, but No Kettle! (or tea or milk or mugs or sugar). Going to have to fix this for future work sessions, I think :)

Not now. Just got home after a lively beat from Cowes to Chichester. Not many out there and most were motoring into the wind rather than sailing. I've never understood that.......

Mind you with 18hp (less what's disappeared after 25 years of use) and a folding 2 blade prop, motoring into any sort of wind and sea isn't really an option for me!

Well this answers my question of whether I was right not to go to Cowes after I finished working on the boat! I went up the harbour and back and then headed home for the warm. I'd forgotten my oilies and boots so I figured it wasn't worth the risk of heading to Cowes on Saturday just in case. I did have a lovelly evening on board though with the heating on - with the washboards in, location is not really a problem :D

Yep, at home on the boat. Chilly tonight but the little stove is glowing. David Mellor on Classic FM and the kettle is on..:D

It was 18 degrees when I did my antifoul, and I feel rather smug now too watching the shivering souls on the hard while I slip my lines :)

Definitely makes sense when you keep the boat in all year. I hope not to have to do mine for a couples of years.

I finished my boot line with a head torch on and was a bit worried I may have painted a wave down the side bit it looks OK on first view in the daylight. The finish isnt perfect but it's good enough for me and will only get crud on it as soon as she is dipped...
