286 miles round trip, during 2004 at least twice a month throughout the year, love the trip as we see it as wind down time. Fastest time yet Southampton to Sutton Coldfield 1hr 40mins, late on Sunday night, 3litre V6 flat out, cracking!!

Good idea by the way, anyone need help in OV, feel free to ask.

There are some long journeys here !... but I am actually envious of just how many people live close to their boats.
As fro me I live in SE London (Bromley way) and the boat is in Poole - that 123miles and 2hrs 15 on a good run.

In the season we'll do that journey every weekend!

Never leave till later though; let the tourist/weekend traffic go first. Have dinner at home and ensure the cork is out of the first bottle of wine by 11.30pm...perfect!

"i know that jfm is further from his boat than i am, partly cos he is 50 yards down the other end of the pontton "

Ah but we are on Mole Sud and "Sud" is a secret clue to the fact that it's on the south side of the marina. So my further-along berth is actually more northerly than yours, hence closer to UK than you!

This miles thing is not the correct measure. What matter is hours/minutes not miles
