I have a centri puppy which provides raw water cooling to my hydraulics heat exchanger. It seems to be running VERY hot. The instructions say it should run at 180 degrees (F, I assume) and that contact with the pump may cause burns.
I have stripped it as far as I can, bronze impeller and shaft seem to be running reasonably freely although there is a faint noise of friction when running. I had not noticed this in the past as the main engine is - normally - running at the same time as the pump and it was only when I stopped the engine after inadvertantly touching the 'cooking' pump that I noticed the noise.
I should add that the pump is doing its job and cooling the hydraulics. Input and output are ok and I wonder if I am just seeing a problem where none exists.
I am going to phone Jabsco tomorrow but would be grateful for any comments.
Many thanks.
