Not boaty, but I once saw middle-aged blonde driving a nice sports car with personalised plates: WAS HIS.I remember seeing a very smart narrow boat called 'Kids Inheritance'
Last seen in Ramsgate. Almost appropriate
Trying to find the photo of a boat in Newlyn called Torri gwynt. It's Welsh, look it upI think our friends acr the Atlantic have a unique way of choosing names...View attachment 100636
They certainly do, the connotation in Dutch is exactly the sameThen there’s the Dutch boat called Wet Dreams. Never had the courage to ask the owners if they knew the colloquial meaning of the boat name...
I used to live there!Well known place in Hong Kong. The "a " is pronounced long, as in "aaaaaahhh".
I sailed on a general cargo ship called Beaver Bank. It used to cause great hilarity when we visited the States.
A very nice motor boat at my yacht club is called AFTICA. Which stands for Another F******* Thing I Can’t Afford which I thought was rather clever.
I refer the Right Honourable Gentleman (and his Right Honourable Inner 12 Year Old) to my post #39.My inner 12 year old still likes the possibly apocryphal gin palace somewhere in the Gulf, called Tits, with two tenders, Nipple 1 and Nipple two
That one was a favourite of my old Dad. He also liked a Mirror dinghy in Tighnabruiach called "Maid Freya Kitt", who sounds like a Victorian lady explorer.I remember seeing Never Again 2 in Oban one year.
My boat is a lump of mixed GRP, lead, wood and aluminium. "Respect"?It seems incredible to me that so many people have such disrespect for their boats that they give them such risible names.
