Saw that on the BBC this morning - I personally think that that area of the country has changed considerably over the past few years. The people with money seem to have moved on to be replaced with chavvy youths. I've been going to Abersoch on a very regular basis over the past 30 years and it really has been noticeable. Regardless of what they do in the marina, if the clientèle have moved on it won't make the blindest bit of difference.

Is this the saving of Puff Welly, or too little, too late from the council that has trouble running a regatta in a sailing centre?

Way too little and late.

I led to beleive they are proposing to pull out 10 deepwater(or used to be) pile moorings. This is supposed to help rectify the silting of the access channel to the marina.

This alone is going to lose them another 50K per annum.

Unfortunately it is already heavily silted where they intend to remove piles. What was needed two years ago was ignored, They employed a cheap mud stirring Paddy rather than a value for money Dutchman.

The carrot of extra discounts is a farce. I certainly cant afford to go into the numerous empty marina berths. Not that I want to as the peace and quiet in the outer harbour is much more attractive.I will probably have to pay triple:eek: my exorbitant pile mooring charge even with the proposed discounts.

A mooring in South Brittany at $45 euros a month looks a very attractive proposition now:)

I reckon they will rob some of the sailing academy capital budget to do some proper dredging but I bet that wont happen until 2013 at the earliest.

Meanwhile they will get Jones Bros to play around at the entrance with their big tonka toys again so that thay can continue to claim that they have "dredged every year"

The writing has been on the wall given the last three years of council procrastination. The cash cow is about to run dry.

They should be prepared for having up to 100 berths empty next year.

Mismanagement is an understatement.
