high tides are comming so they say

Humm, not really Shure that 'high tides' on their own are any problem, unless the moorings or berths are not able to take them, but rough weather and a high wind will be a problem for lots of peoples.

Since we can predict tides hundreds of years in advance one assumes that we new this was coming

so how is it news....

Tide isn't too bad in terms of above the datum, it's the other factors that affect it...
Tomorrow mornings 5.6m looks like it might be a 5.8 or 5.9 in reality.....6.1 will breach my garden wall so exciting times for us :)

We have the sand bags ready...but luckily it's not an easterly.

Massive HT at Mercury yesterday, the walkway from the security gat was level, not seen that before.

Took the boat out at 2.30 for a sea trial just as the tide was turning, returned an hour later and I swear we had 5 to 7 knts against us on the Hamble

That must've been you, Andy, I saw coming out of the Hamble at about 14:30 yesterday, then turned up Southampton Water to stretch the engines? From what I could see, the boat looked great and sounded good....though from where I was standing on Warsash Point, it was difficult to make out what the make and model was.....it looked between 37 to 40 foot, with a grey or bronze hull, and a dinghy strapped to the bathing platform......was this you Andy?

If so, how did the trial go?

Going through the lock at Port Solent today we were faced with higher water on the outside of the marina than in.

It was very lumpy mid Solent too, so we abandoned our crossing and turned back.

Same at Hythe today was explaining to swmbo what to expect and I was surprised to see us going down Into the marina.

Nasty standing wind over tide waves up southampton water today.
