My old Johnson Seahorse 6 OB is set up for external fuel tank. I am trying to find a fuel connector that will fit onto the fitting on the motor.

As with most of these, there are two "pins" one is the actual fuel pipe and the other is a solid pin with a groove in it and is used to latch the fuel connector onto the engine.

The problem I am having is finding a fuel connector of the correct size. On mine, the actual fuel "pin" measures 6mm diameter. I have a spare fuel connector but that is more like am 8mm fuel "pin"

This one has caught my eye, as it describes itself as "6mm" Pardon our interruption...

But although it shows one drawing with dimensions, it does not confirm the vital bit as being 6mm.

To be clear, what I am needing is a fuel connector where the left hand hole in this picture is 6mm diameter

If I remember I had difficulty getting one to fit, had to go into chandler with engine! I thinks it’s an OMC specific fitting. Great engines.

The link says that one is for Yamaha.

The Yamaha ones are very very similar but do not fit ...... guess how I know!

Try Wills Marine in Kingsbridge Devon

Thanks. I will message them with my motors model and serial number and confirm it is right.
For a 6hp the version for 5/16" hose at the top of the same page is more likely to be the right one. Check the bore of your fuel hose.

775640 is the most recent Johnson/Evinrude part number for the connector for your 6HP and 5/16" fuel hose but there seems to be considerable confusion with the part numbers on that site.

3/8" fuel hose is used on much larger engines

This highlights my frustration with this exercise. I don't care what size rubber fuel hose attaches to it. That is almost a secondary consideration, But it seems to be the main parameter used to describe them. What is important, and not variable, is the size of the brass parts, the fuel pipe and the pin used to latch the fuel connector in place. Those are fixed and those determine whether a particular fuel connector will fit or not, but nobody mentions them or knows anything about them.

The point is that the correct connector (P/N 0775640 ) for your engine will have a 5/16" hose barb

The connector with a 3/8" hose barb may or may not fit your engine.. I dont know although I suspect it might.

The page in the link in #5 also shows the connector with a 5/16 hose barb and quotes the above part number. That should fit.

You don't care what size hose will fit. I dont care if you buy a part that does not fit. . . .Your choice.. . . Buy something with the correct part number quoted or buy something which may or may not fit.

Personally I'd try to obtain a genuine part rather than some cheap aftermarket ebay replacement. This is a critical part. If a cheap copy does not fit well and leaks air will be pulled in and your engine will fail. . . . Your choice.
