Hi All

I could do with some help / knowledge or practical thinking.

A 1990 Antares 760 with Tamd 41P- A (400 hours) is emitting steam/ smoke - Please see picture.
Its grey /white in colour and dissipates quickly.
I have had the boat a year it sat previously in a marina in fresh water basically unused for 7 years.
I have had a full service, cleaned out the raw water system including removal and clean of the heat exchanger and oil cooler, new exhaust elbow and had the injectors checked.
At around 8 knots I start to get emission's from the exhaust , there is no loss of coolant or oil everything seems spot on.
She revs to around 3600 and will 22 knots flat out, Starts on the button.
In the video she was flat out with temp reading 87 deg at 22 knots.

What is happening to my emission's any help gratefully received

I have the same boat and same engine. Mine is 1999 which I though was the first year of production? If you are getting 3600, 22 knots and instant starting then all is good. If that picture was taken at 22 knots then its roughly the same as mine. It gets worse with prop/hull fouling and better than that when they are clean. Mine has been the same for 7 years and I've done 600 hours in that time. I have ensured the exhaust elbow is completely clean the air filter is perfect and no improvement in the amount of steam. Suggest you enjoy the boat and don't look back.

Hi
You are correct the year is 1999 (typo).

Thanks for the reassurance but it still feel its not not quite correct for this much emission.

Hi
The engine is TAMD 41 A - P , I think P stands for propeller
Ah okay, just in your original post you said P-A , no matter :)
So the issue I had with mine turned out to be the flaps in the exhaust elbow, but you say you replaced yours so it may be irrelevant.
If you have a look at this thread it'll explain my issue and fix. Tamd41a exhaust solenoid

Edit... Just re-read and your engine is 1999. Totally disregard the above!!!

My tamd41p has always been a bit steamy, I think they all are. However it got noticeably worse late summer and replacing the elbow has made a big difference.

Are you sure? Mine is a TAMD41P-a which I believe all 200hp VP engines fitted to the Antares 760 were. The P just refers the model. These engines started as a 41A and, although they did not go strictly through the alphabet, the last of the series was a 41P.

Hi Martyn
If you look further down your attached list you will see TAMD 41P-A 1994 - 2005
This is on all my original paperwork that came with the boat.
The boat is 1999

This is what mine looks like
this level of white smoke/steam is normal for my engine over the last 7 years in my ownership. Nothing wrong, delivers full performance, believe this is normal.

Yes that was my reason for posting it - to prove you were correct.
The grey highlight on my post above was as it must have appeared on the search - I did not notice the grey highlight until just now.
