used to run 135 kva cat 3306 turbo charged gennies in africa, they used a barrel and a half of diesel a day on full load 1 kva = 1.25 hp approx so do the maths but i think that your cummins will do the same

There are a few more details re which gearbox, prop size, type and size of boat, turbo or n/a.
I have one of these early cummins from the 1950's n/asperated it runs like a dream through a twin disk . It returns 185hp at 1800rpm. Things like the sacrificial water filter must be changed regulary if the ones you have are early types the filter can break down and cause blockages in the blocks water ways. There is a complete kit to change it all over to spin on filter I dont know how much this is yet as I have not got to the stage of servicing mine. The cummins people are 100% very helpful .

cheers

A quick and easy formula for diesel engines -

1 UK gallon per hour per 20 h.p.

So, with 2 x 185 h.p. at full power, thats 18.5 gallons per hour.

This formula is accurate to within about 15% for all diesel engines.

The difficult part is working out how many h.p. you will be using at cruising speeds, often on a sailing boat it will be less than 25% of the engine maximum power.

Hope this helps

We have twin Sabre 180's in a 33 ft Aquabell weight about 6 tons, my log shows no more than 8 gallons an hour at 2000 rpm, and speed across the ground of 15/17 knots.

Totally depends on type of boat and how much loud lever you use! By the way, cummins are wonderful engines!
