Kwacka,
How is going nowhere fast on a mobo more entertaining than going nowhere fast in a raggie? All you need to do is hold tight, squint into the spray & prey you don't find any pots, giant bales of hay, planks, swamped containers etc etc etc. And where do you end up? In Rhyl, former playground of the great unwashed & now quietly retreating to the mud from whence it grew. The public money spent there only seems to have made the bloomin' place look worse than ever. At least Victorian ruins have a certain grace - modern ones just look awful.
Whereas, in my yacht, I balance the winds & tides constantly in a battle of wits to best utilise nature's twin bounties. I am busy with leaches & luffs, sheets, topping lifts, kicking straps & halliards, tell-tales, wheel, the wind on my cheek, the strength & direction of tide, and yet never leave the safety & beauty of the PD speed limit until the tide changes in my favour. I can easily spend 3 hours heading to Caernarfon & love every minute - oh & it doesn't cost a penny in fuel AND I can make my own coffee with a wee stiffener in it too.
Nope, sorry, not jealous at all. But I do wish I was able to be on the water more often.
Now "THATS" what it is all about. Well said that Man.
Mobos and stink bombs are all right if you want to get somewhere in a hurry or bounced about against the tide.
But the ones I sailed on still took 12/14 days to reach the USA.
