Heads hose recommendations

Basically, spend a little bit more and get a ‘rubber’ type hose rather than the cheaper ‘pvc’ types. The latter tend to result in a less fragrant heads down the line.

I am told by someone who replaced the lengthy hoses on his Oyster as we discussed at a Xmas dinner this Xmas that Italian makes of hose are best . Sadly I cannot recall make he used but to confirm his choice he called Oyster to ask which make they used in new boats. If of interest pm me and I’ll ask him.

Most of the smell is from bacteria forming in the sea water hose between the seacock and toilet pump. Very hard to avoid unless you have fresh water flush or the disinfectant gadget that squirts into the supply line.

Sanipomp? Tek-tanks sell a 5 and 10 year version impregnated with vanilla. I have used this and the Seaflow version sold by the likes of asap-supplies.com. The Seaflow hose subjectively looks "nicer" /more expensive but I think it was rated for 5 years. The Sanipomp 10 year version has a silver coating which looks a bit cheap in my opinion but if it lasts twice as long I'm not going to complain. Both cost around £30 per metre for the 38mm ID version
