Yes.Does that mean that the AC proper can't be raced between two teams from the same country?
This discussion is reminding me of the discussions preceding any FIFA World Cup for which England qualify about who they are likely to face in the final.Isn't there is still the small matter of winning the Cup first?
...so we're agreed. except I'd love it to go to Belfast ;-)This discussion is reminding me of the discussions preceding any FIFA World Cup for which England qualify about who they are likely to face in the final.
However, if St Ben's direct line to God does its stuff and the bizarre circus does come to the UK then - as someone who sails on the Clyde and Belfast Lough - I hope it is confined to the Solent.
Where would be the best place to hold the races in Britain?
I would imagine they would be listening to any suitably funded package. Not wanting to count my chickens.. but as the holder of record I couldn't see the Yacht Squadron agreeing to the racing being anywhere other than the Solent?
It's amused me too, but I'm from NZ, where a small remote country of only 5m people has managed to host the event with no problems.I cannot believe that any other challenger for the cup ever would have such absurd negativity from its home country as illustrated here.
The cup has been going for 170 years, no UK team has ever won it. But sure, let's focus on the perceived downsides of maybe having to avoid some exclusion zones across maybe 20 days of actual racing and "rich people staying in hotel rooms".
Unbelievable.
That didn't work to well for us, though, did it !If it was me I would polish off the original rules from 1851 and race around the Isle of Wight.
second time lucky! That didn't work to well for us, though, did it !
Not everybody, even in the sailing world, finds this sort of racing interesting shock horror probe.I cannot believe that any other challenger for the cup ever would have such absurd negativity from its home country as illustrated here.

But the winner gets to define the next challenge so if we were to put this 170 year embarrassment behind us we could set a challenge that inspired the UK sailing community and get sailing on the TV and in the papers. It can only be a good thing Shirley ?Not everybody, even in the sailing world, finds this sort of racing interesting shock horror probe.
That leaves a lot to play with, carbon fiber hulls and mast, maybe canting keels fully batterned sails, massive clouds of headsails and mizzenmast staysailsOnce round the Isle of Wight, clockwise, leaving the Nab Tower to starboard, in gaff rigged schooners.
Lot to be said for racing round the IOW in a "J" class. At least the boats could be used for something afterwards.Once round the Isle of Wight, clockwise, leaving the Nab Tower to starboard, in gaff rigged schooners.
I gather there is a good candidate vessel going cheap in Brixham harbour.Once round the Isle of Wight, clockwise, leaving the Nab Tower to starboard, in gaff rigged schooners.
