Just been investigating the marina provision on the borders of the East Coast.

Never been by boat but I like Sandwich, definitely one of the more agreeable faces of Kent

I think it's not at all bad for a first try at a marina.

Umm, yes that Marina position also offers about 10 miles of upriver cruising through natural Kent countryside, but must arrange for the Bridge at Sandwich to be raised for you if of any noticeable air height. Boats of a good size can travel up to Grove Ferry where a fixed road bridge prevents navigation up further, but dinghies and small craft do travel on for a further couple of miles.
Highway Marine boat yard is at Sandwich and there is a small boat yard, Roy Newings, at Grove Ferry where short stay moorings might be available.
