I have just come back from the factory and wondered if any of you have one of these fitted on your boat?
What is it and on which boat is it fitted - no prizes I'm afraid  but I thought some of you might like the photo anyway.....one of the surprises and joys of bespoke building.

Blimey that was fast! Absolutely right.
It is (apparently) very trendy and the first we have fitted so far, I am sure it raised a few eyebrows at Dusseldorf show.
Not yet tested the lid opening and closing speed though, perhaps we should try to get MBY to do an in depth test of it!!!

Yup, urinal. high end bathroom installers offer them in domestic bathrooms often these days. horrible things. I'd have it ripped out of any house or boat I owned :-)

It is certainly a personal choice I'd say;)
They do say the customer is always right - as I said in the OP, the joys of bespoke building.
Another boat currently in build has this installed in the Saloon.

Seeing as it is besoke high end and presume money no object I have two observations for Mk II version

a) I hate the idea of having to touch the lid to open, a foot switch or IR auto would be preferable.

b) In a rolling sea / high speed banking or good night out, one's 'jetstream' is unpredictable , if the base unit was on a swivel mechanism linked to an automatic targeting system that allowed the dry piddle pot to track the 'jetstream' there would be less spillage, and image the hours of endless fun trying to catch the auto target system out , bit like trying to write your name on the communal stainless steel urinals the rest of us plebs have to use !

Hi Daka,

OK, all good points. However, being a Van der Valk it has only top equipment fitted, not a SS wall in sight! :p
A. it has an IR for opening and closing/flushing, it was left out of the last photo.
B. The boat is fully stabilised so there shouild be no "splashy splashy" - other then mis control - issues!! Keep up the practice in the communal areas:eek:

I will speak to the design team at the suppliers and see if the IR and Potty can be linked up to the gyros to do as you suggest. Do you want me to get them to send the royalty money direct or shall we share it?

That's better ....

Often thought that if we went on an extended cruise I'd have to take my piano with us ... fortunately I've (also) got a portable one that runs of 12v and doesn't take much room! :)

Is it? Now, that's hard to believe.
And if it really were, I would wonder how long it will take before someone will think of adapting one of those milking pumps normally used for cows...

Not sure where you are going here (Yeah, right!) but for what it's worth, we normally keep the fresh milk in the fridge:rolleyes:

I have a virtual one of these on my bathing platform. Need to check wind direction first though.

That's two options for Daka now then, a stabilised version or the bathing platform version. Marvellous thing this Forum, where else can you get so many answers for every piddling problem! ;);

In case anyone is interested, MBY have a tour of all areas of this particular boat on their video feed at http://youtu.be/Wi0VE3q983Y

Thats a much better shot and the design is so much easier to appreciate now, dual purpose too, ideal following a dodgy seafood restaurant ..........

Thanks Daka, you will notice that there is even a nice comfy seat nearby if the dodgy seafood restaurant dictates.....
This is, by the way, just the third Head on the boat - the others though do NOT get the Urinal you'll be pleased to hear - they are far more usual in their design:)

Who's bright idea was it to fit carpet in a bathroom with not one but 2 toilets? Thats going to smell nice after a season or two. As for the urinal, the one type of crew member who you really want to use the urinal ie kids who are none to careful where they aim, can't reach it:)

To be fair Mike , I dont think the carpet smelling will be noticed above the humming p!ss pot :D

Surely the concept of a dry urinal is no water to dillute the urine,
Wont it stink like a public toilet etc?
Its not like your saving water etc when you can flush using sea water, I dont see the point...
