Have you got one of these on your boat

Who's bright idea was it to fit carpet in a bathroom with not one but 2 toilets? Thats going to smell nice after a season or two. As for the urinal, the one type of crew member who you really want to use the urinal ie kids who are none to careful where they aim, can't reach it:)

Normal fitment here is marble with under floor heating. This owner has opted for carpet and underfloor heating....I do not think there are any kids in the equation and adults generally can aim better (except the obvious ones on the forum who have already indicated they may be a little poor in this area!) but if some do turn up aboard he can always put a beer crate under it for them to stand on!

Surely the concept of a dry urinal is no water to dillute the urine,
Wont it stink like a public toilet etc?
Its not like your saving water etc when you can flush using sea water, I dont see the point...

It does flush, with fresh water, when the lid is shut so it should not smell any more than a conventional loo does. That apart, not sure I would fit one on my boat anyway!
The point of posting the picture was to get your comments and thoughts here in the UK.
I can tell you that in many Dutch homes they have no doors on their en-suite bathrooms. I am somewhat old school here and think there are some things that are better not shared:eek:

Mike,
`Thanks for your input. No pun intended.
I can assure you that the height of the unit will be OK, Dutch kids are all bl**dy tall nowadays, some of them are nearly 7 feet tall - something to do with the modern diet and needing to look over the dykes (cue another thread twist!!) I am told.:D

I wish I could see over the dykes, what do they eat ?

The Dykes or the Kids?

The diet seems to consist largely of mainly frites and seafood, lots of lean meat, brilliant sugar breads and pastries to die for, good beer and great coffee. The older and shorter Dutch tell me the kids eat junk food as well and blame that as part of the reason they are all so tall - it all helps them to be tall enough to see over the dykes.....and reach the urinals.
These dykes exist all over the country not just in Amsterdam:rolleyes:

Oddly enough on a recent visit I stopped at a service station to fill the car and use the loo. When I came back to the car I was laughing and said to my wife "remind me not to employ a Dutch plumber. They are all so tall the bl**dy urinals are half way up the wall.":)

The boat in question is an Aluminium Van der Valk 23m or 78 feet. We are hopeful of MBY giving her a full test later this month so hopefully there will be more from them in an upcoming issue of the mag. The important thing to remember is that because it is Aluminium there are no fixed bulkheads to get in the way and as a result you can have as many cabins as you want, single, twin, bunked, doubles or whatever all at the same price. The standard equipment EXCLUDES a urinal but if you want one, we will fit one just as we have for this owner!
The piano was owner supplied and fitted by the factory....it is not standard equipment yet, but if we get enough requests, who knows;)
Bart, we could certainly get a pie organ ( I will leave that typing error in for the laughs!) on the latest build at the yard, she is a 30m three decker. By the way, you have a good article in the Mag, many congratulations. I followed your story on the forum and think you have a great buy there, enjoy her - as you are now no doubt well aware, you can never have too much boat:D

I have just come back from the factory and wondered if any of you have one of these fitted on your boat?
What is it and on which boat is it fitted - no prizes I'm afraid  but I thought some of you might like the photo anyway.....one of the surprises and joys of bespoke building.

So this is the 'new' "He Wee"... ? LOL:p Do we still have to put the seat down ?:D:cool:

Not what you told me when you tried to sell me one with no door on and with a great view of the wc from the bed!!!

I don't sell houses! However, it is true that some Dutch boats do indeed leave the loo doors off, maybe so they can feel "at home" - but the frames are always there so that on resale of the boat, the door can be fitted to save any blushes. That's BLUSHES ;)

I 'm curious whats coming next :)

Oh, thats simple Bart!
When adding length, always remember to add a bit in the beam as well - the increase in the interior volume is brilliant!!;)
All the best.
