It's a US law so effectively applies worldwide since the popular platforms are US based (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and they enforce the rule. Other countries do have it too, the UK for instance has similar in place and it has been enforced in the past. You can publish to other platforms without the declaration, but probably won't have an audience. Tik Tok is an exception that's very popular and not US based, but the US are working to legislate to remove that from the US Internet!

I think UMA know exactly what they are doing. Boating was getting a little samey, so completely strip the boat and rebuild it. I do think it is being built like a Brick Outhouse, but its good viewing. Oh and why not do it in a nice location for weekends out in the sticks. Smart cookies.

I am very particular with what I watch. I am interested in interesting content (Travelogue narrative) I don't want to watch "product reviews" (Fairisle is really bad at this) slipped in as advertorial. The following have run out of steam in my opinion

Got to disagree there. Delos are building a go anywhere aluminium catamaran to take up to the arctic and SLV have been consistently making amazing content on their new trimaran. MJ Sailing have stated they are a build channel and they only intend to sail the new boat for a few seasons before starting another build, so if sailing is your thing then they probably aren't for you.

Florence have done a pretty consistently good job with content and didn't waste too many episodes with refit.
Cadoha is on pause for a bit but hopefully will return and fingers crossed will get further than the south coast. This one did tail off a bit into lobster catching and dog walking though so may also not be the sailing channel we'd hoped. They'll have to rename the boat now too, with the little one arriving!

We're also now enjoying Atticus, although they just announced another baby on the way and plan to go to the states for the birth so may be a pause there too.

Agree, they've been my favourite channel for a long time now. No hype, good production, interesting content. It's all very relatable and inspiring. So much so that they inspired me to build the same dinghy as they have.

I've tried to watch them but they don't do anything for me. Different strokes etc.

I was close to doing the same, but then I watched an episode where they explained some downsides of it which put me off. I think the gist was it was too small for many tasks and in some scenarios it wasn't big enough for both of them to be in it.

The Delos 2 hull is almost complete judging by the photo I saw the other day. It's not GRP so there won't be a bunch of filling and fairing to do and I don't think they intend to paint it, so just a fit out which in theory shouldn't take too much time.

They've got the smallest version, 9ft, and both Matt and Amy are quite tall I believe.
Based on their comments about it being a bit small, I built the largest nesting version, which is 11ft. It's cavernous. We've carried six people under sail on a long trip with lunches and snorkeling gear aboard. Record of nine people on a short trip under motor. Freeboard was starting to look a little marginal .
In hindsight I would probably have built the 10ft version. Ours is quite a handful to get on and off deck, but we only do that every few months when doing a serious multi-day passage.

If you cruise in the right places, there is no shortage of other kids around. We've had two seasons in the Caribbean and most days there are a bigger group of kids from the boats than our son has at his local primary school.

As you say plenty of kids around to interact with - but the boat children's 'society' is nothing like you get back in so-called 'civilisation' (in our experience).

I often wonder about the overall longevity of YouTube sailing channels. Once channels reach 'maturity' ie the boat has been developed to its maximum potential and the crew have become competent at what they do, there isn't a lot of room for expansion or more importantly differentiation from the other channels out there. You don't want it to become a weekly glorified holiday video or a snapshot of a 'perfect' lifestyle which it often isn't. It must be hard to generate up beat content and release it weekly when not much is happening - other than sailing from A-B.

Then they have kids and its game over for me
