Hand Held VHF

Correction to post #5
It's the HX890E I've had multiple fogging / condensation issues with, not the HX320E
The Standard Horizon HX890E model has problem with moisture either trapped inside during manufacturing or moisture penetration during usage. Could be a bad batch, however, they should be recalled for exchange rather than people having to return them or, like in my case I had to argue with a very well known marine chandler for an exchange.

It's definitely a manufacturing fault as the moisture appeared within a few minutes of first using it. The second one was another black one that failed in the same way so I tried a blue one in case it was a batch thing...exactly the same thing. The guys at Marine Superstore were great and when I asked them whether I should try the equivalent Cobra or Icom they said they get their fair share of issues with those as well, although I got the impression that they had less issues with Icom. Ironically the Cobra I had before this was brilliant, lasting 16 years before I inadvertently snapped the aerial off.
