Well on Wednesday I will have had my boat for 5 years,
The boat is ideal for us, it has enough room, it cruises at a good speed, not too costly to run !!!
How often do people change there boat, and what makes you want to change.

I'm on 4th boat in 5 years! Started 13' for a year, then 18', then 26', now a Targa 30. Each time I've wondered how I could possibly afford the next step....

Only had this one 4 month and it seems to have all we need...apart from 2 separate cabins, second loo...

We've had our Princess 435 for six years now - first boat, ticks all our boxes, no intention to change.

I changed my boat every year the first three years. First was just rubbish and tried to kill and bankrupt me. The second we realised was too small which led to our third and current fine motor yacht complete with fashionable and practical HT /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I reckon we'll get two more seasons before we outgrow this one. SWMBO has her heart set on an SC38.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

8 Years this year.

We did briefly think about selling her last year because of the diesel thing but decided just to use the boat more wisely

Anyway, after 8 years we are very comfortable with her, we have ironed out all her teething troubles AND she is almost all ours. HWMBO knows the engines and systems inside out.

Why would we change? apart from the fact that sometimes, just sometimes, I would like to go a little bit faster /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats Quiet a few Adam
We have had 3 boats in total, first one petrol sunfury, cost me a fortune every week in petrol, second was a 1990 targa 33, main reason changing from the 33 was wanted a transom door and a decent size shower.

Targa 30 nice boat

Must admit mine's is a bit like Trigger's broom. I may have had it nine years but it's had three engines and a almost a complete refit /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks, we really pleased with her. I am convinced it was the best we could get for the budget. Just want some decent weather...fingers crossed, this weekend will see a run from Poole to Yarmouth

Er, 11 boats in 18 yrs. To be fair, I've done nearly 3 yrs with the present one which is nearly an all time personal best
Reason for changing is always Man Logic - an undeniable indisputable financial and logical reasoning process to justify the totally unjustifiable. Anyway I see it as my duty to support the British yacht broking industry

OK,

8 Main boats in 11 years plus one Speed/waterski boat and a Jetski. Unfortunatley I change my boats quite often.....I just love boats!

A mix of Sailing boats, Petrol Mobo's and Diesel Mobos!

and I am hoping to swop again soon.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Cheers

Coming up on 5 years. We've done a load of work on her, and now she's mostly sorted (i.e. I trust things not to break too often).

So, I've:
<ul type="square"> [*]added a crane [*]added teak to the flybridge [*]added a second water tank for freshwater flushing [*]uprated (doubled) the batteries [*]added smart alternator controllers and a charge splitter [*]added a 2kw invertor [*]added a thermostatic mixer to the hotwater system [*]added teak grates and blinds to both heads [*]upgraded the radar/plotters [*]re-upholstered with leather [*]put in a sprung mattress (luxury!) [*] a dozen other things I can't remember [/list]
So to be honest, I wouldn't want to sell. We did think about going bigger to get a third cabin (kids, y'see), but to be honest it's only a year or two and they won't want to be seen dead with us anyway...

Thats a nice list of personal touches, these are the things that cost money but they make it your own.

Five years with our current boat.

We're considering a fairly radical change - to a raggie /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif - but if it doesn't come about, we'll stick with what we've got ftb, though I don't think our kids will put up with sleeping in the cockpit under a camper canvas for very much longer....
