Had enough - selling boat

PM,d MC earlier I,m on the spot, if and when the time comes! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Bag of spanners and a large Lump Hammer at the ready!

Exagood , could turn into a mini meet , Brendan keeps having these ideas and sometimes they work out too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif , come on MC , we're behind you . Not in front mind /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

MC, I am sure you will do whats best for you, but reading all your post, i still get the feeling the trailer isn't set up right. The dealer is there to sell boat, and is an expert in boats, that doesn't mean they are experts at setting up trailers. They tell you that if they raise the fixing up to the next setting, it will raise the centre of gravity, to me thats bolloxs, we are only talking an inch or 3! The boat is a fisher and already has a higher CoG than most speedboats that those trailer were probably designed round, i think raising it by 2 or 3 inches, might cure your problem, and as for stability, i can't see it making a huge difference, and you do drive it slowly round corners don't you!
As other has said, it might be better speaking to SBS, they are the proffessionals, am surely have a solution.

Also i've seen the packaging for the keel guard, it doesn't seem as tough as they say it is, why not speak to them, and tell them its ripped within a few months, and you want another one FOC!

Good luck with what ever you do, but stick with it, one day you might just catch that illusive Bass! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers

Al.

Bass! The Loch Ness Monster of Wales. Doesn't exist.

The dealers are now talking to SBS, so we may get some progress now that the professionals are involved.

I have asked the dealer if they will be testing the new layout before I pick it up.

Not sure who will be doing the repair yet, but don't put your fillers away yet.

Kawasaki, if I see you anywhere near my boat with a lump hammer, I'll kick your stern gland again!

Feeling better today, the dumb resignation of my plight has set in.

My sister pointed out to me this morning that it is not the boat's fault and that it is a cracking boat with awesome sea keeping properties, so I should not give up. I know that SBS trailers are also pretty good, but the two togeher need some marriage guidance. Do you think Relate can help me?

PS. Thanks for all the PM's I have recieved....and not all of them rude.

Glad you've perked - or is that pirked - up a bit. There was nowt wrong with the boat. As others have said, it's the trailer set-up that's the problem. This should have been correct from Day 1 but you were let down by the boat supplier who has been distinctly un-professional. Still, what do we expect, this is the boat business /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
There should be a relatively quick fix for your problem, then you'll be back out there, reeling them in.
Happy hunting.
John.

Funnily enough Duncan, we have an ace Bass fisherman who works at the marina. He only uses lures and 'fly fishes' for bass with lighweight tobies, never failing to catch some.

He told me last week that he gives me tips only because I have never asked him to actually take me out and show me how to catch them, which he wouldn't do as his fishing spots are his secret.

The fun is trying for them and I have learned a lot lately. When I eventually catch one, the entire Welsh speaking part of North Wales will go into carnival mode. Children are getting crash courses in English so that they can hear first hand the stories of the Englishman who can't catch Bass.

I have to say, the good old Welsh have really taken me under their wing and I just love going up there.

When you get your boat and trailer sorted, pop over here for the weekend and I'll guarantee you a bass or two, thats if you'll sign the official secrets act as to the location!!,
good luck

Oh. Bloody hell. We were trying to make it sound technical.

If you want to go down the "it works for me" route, most steam-boaters use a wooden plank along the chassis backbone, and fit a brass strip on the keel.

I'm glad you're giving it a few more chances. It's a great boat and as someone else said a good trailer. They just need to be a better fit.

The dealer's point about centre of gravity is irrelevant. Think how high the centre of gravity of a fin keel yacht with an inboard engine is. You don't see many of those lying at the side of the road. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Even on my little 18ft boat I reckon the C of G is about here or a little higher.
(keel 230 Kg, total 545Kg)

Point taken.

The chappie who told me that has now left the dealers and is selling outboards now.

I e-mailed them today and told them that I want to know the result of their chat with SBS.
