This morning on R4 Today, Paul Kingman of Arguing with Zombie, said that 60% of US Republicans denied, even, that climate was changing, let alone any man made effect. And that the remainder, although accepting MMGW, did not accept any need for action. Clearly, Greta has little effect over the pond.

) Asperger's is very hard to diagnose , as the child grows up they learn to mask their behaviour , or the parents and school just think its a difficult child for girls especially they tend not to be diagnosed untill high school when hormones play havoc on their condition , this can lead to depression in some cases , as by the time they are 13 they have no idea why they are the way they are , with some depression can come eating disorders well linked to Girls with Asperger's , the mutisim is because they are not understood they will be frank when they say something as they do not realise social ques , they will tell you your Bum does looks big because that is what they see , they find it difficult to lie, or move the subject on they see in tunnel vision and get focused on what they see as they are growing up this creates problems within their social grouping as children were there shunned by others , if caught early as we did with my Daughter at 8 years , my Wife is a Doctor , then we can mitigate and help her understand the world is not full of people like you who are old stuck in their ways and really just dont know what their talking about

In what way is her disability, if that's what it is, relevant to her message? It's part of who she is, but has no bearing on her ability to understand the, if you'll pardon the expression, clusterfuck that climate change is and will be in the future.
The preponderance of scientific evidence says we're in deep doo doo and digging ourselves deeper all the time. As far as I can make out, pretty much the only people with any scientific credentials who deny Man's influence on climate change and the need for us to do something - a very big something - about it are in the pay of industries that make money out of pollution - petrochemicals and the like. As for the Republicans, screw everyone else and the planet as long as we can be rich seems to be part of their DNA. A rise in temperature and sea levels won't affect their lives significantly - until their beach homes get washed away. It's the poor and poor countries that will suffer first, and they aren't important.

Her disability, if you want to call it that, is IMHO of no consequence whatsoever. It's like being left handed or some other way of being a couple of SDs from the median.
It's easy to vilify Republicans, but the problem is not just in the US. Brazil,China, India, Africa and others are not on message. Even the UK is hooked on growth.
All I'm saying about Greta is that's she's consolidated her fanbase among old blokes who sail the internet, and the kids aren't talking about her much any more.
Yachting is fairly much an emblem of Western high consumption, an irony not lost on the last young person I heard mention Greta.
It's all very easy to witter on about nasty petroleum companies and so forth, but it's the consuming public that pays their wages at the end of the day.
So much hypocrisy, so much half-baked eco-twaddle, mankind is probably cruising to a bruising.

Do they think that the people that I used to work with in Africa give a stuff? With the womens day given over to just getting the basics such as half decent water from a well a mile or more away? Would love to see the squawking coming from the eco twaddlers if their cushioned little lives were not possible because BP or the other majors werent producing the hydrocarbons that make it so! My pointing out the hypocrisy of the blessed ones passengering on a plastic boat powered by two diesel engines whilst lecturing the rest of the world on their use of hydrocarbons, what is wrong with that? The owners of the boat with their child being nappied with disposable ones and the pretty one twinkling her fingers as she ruffles through her organic supplies and other strange woke supplies, watching them preaching veggie ism as they slaughter a fish and devour it raw! Is it any wonder some of us old cynics dont worship at their woke alter?

All of which is why governments must take the lead. We can all eat less meat, use our cars less etc. It will all add up but, if the planet is going to be inhabitable by future generations, we are going to need massive changes To our current way of life. It may or may not be possible. Greta may well carry on, she may be joined by others. Extinction Rebellion needs to become, perhaps already nas become, more sensible. But, in the long run it is going to need concerted governmental/international action if there Is going to be sustainable human life in the 22nd century.

The posturing in the last few pages is bizarre. It would be a comfort to me if I believed they were trolling but sadly I think they may be genuine.
