Hello Russell, from dark London. Welcome, and we're honoured to have a pro on the board. In fact having read your profile you can be CEO of the board
OK, serious question. Bit of mkt research (ie I'm comparing Blearix with SofF). How much does a marina berth in Portals cost, and how much in somewhere ok but not as upmarket, say Alcudia. To buy, not rent. Say for a 13m or a 15m boat. Just approximately
Quite a bit apparently!

Not sure about being CEO just yet, seems to me new users get a bit of a rough ride until they either prove themselves or fade back into obscurity!
As far as berths go, a 13-15 metre berth will be anywhere from £200,000 in Peurto Portals and £80,000 upwards in Alcudia/Cala d'Or (i.e. non fashionable marinas) probably slightly more expensive than S. of France but countered by cheaper and better srevices and cost of running.
well this is all a bit tame! I was expecting torrents of abuse for choosing to forego good old blighty in preference to cold Sangria and warm senoritas! I learnt to sail on derwent reservior (Newcastle) so did my hard stretch!
Somethinh happened somewhere, and not a foreign office thing either cos Douglas Hurd complained about it to a journo, but suddenly lots of places with anglicised names suddenly started being called by their name as spelled in their home country. Does anyone know what/who/when this started?
eg
Peking now Beijing
Majorca now Mallorca
This didn't affect everywhere: Moscow is not Moskva, Rome is not Roma, Genoa is not Gennes, and er well anyway i think you get the point.

was trying to think of witty comeback, but clicked onto your bio while brain was churning, X yachts v. sexy beasts, especially 33 and 36 so respect big fella!
Hi Russell, intersting to hear your a broker I wonder if your compnay has a web site by any chance. Dont have to make it public can PM me with it if you want.
I am coming out to Del Sol in March and will be looking for a flybridge boat to start a sea school. Now I have 12m berth (rented) already, thats sadly only 39ft, I take it they apply that dimension to overall boat length not waterline length.
Wonder wether they would be flexible if I got a slightly bigger boat only........
This rules out any 40 footers, trouble is my partner in this thinks 37ft not quite long enough, this leaves a boat 38 to 39ft. Not much choice apart from Princess 385, which I believe is 38.5ft overall. Often get boats called 38 or 39ft which in reality are over that.
"The Med has got me" (no not the Medway the other Med)
Beijing/Guangzhuo etc were Demanded by Chinese act of '''Parliament'''' ,,
Mumbai is official namechange (de-anglicise)
Mallorca - justdown to middle-class Brits on Thompson's best !!
Can not understand why
Caerdydd = Cardiff
Abertawe = Swansea
thankfully still only one f' in Abergafenni /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
<font color=blue>I am WHAT I say I am</font color=blue>
but the caerdydd is welsh innit? We're not using that! Well not in England anyway. Mind you, twould be much easier if most welsh was "iau" on the end of every word, and indeed it pretty much is...
