Hello
During my refit I am considering adding an inverter charger so I can run a kettle/microwave to reduce my reliance on gas. This is a 12 volt system on a Nauticat 33. The charger needs to be about 70/80 amp. What unit should I go for or what do you use and does it work ok?

I think OP willl find it a bad idea to hope to run a kettle or microwave cooker from batteries. The current demand at 12v is typically around 100 amps for microwave. Just too much for most battery installations. Stick with gas or microwave only from shore power. ol'will

is it? A small low power kettle might take 5 min to boil if full. Rewarming a meal in the m/w probably about the same. A 70-80A charging requirement suggest a reasonable sized battery bank.

Plenty of boats run microwaves from 12V via an inverter. Running a 3kw kettle isn't a great idea, not because of how many Ah it will use, more because of the heavy draw. A 1Kw kettle would be fine if the battery capacity is sufficient.

As is often the case, the OP hasn't given much detail of his systems, so it's impossible to make any appropriate recommendations.
