I need to remove the various graphics from my boat, I have a recommended brush on solvent which is proving to be very inefficient. Any suggestions on the best way to do this? Can you use a heat gun without damaging the gel coat? All suggestions welcomed.

If the graphics are a vinyl decal, I have used "EASYOFF" oven cleaner on the old boat name on my boat. the vinyl just bubbles and can be scrapped off without damage to the gel coat. You might want to try a bit of the stuff on a small corner and see what happens. (I also tried sanding it off at first, but it really made a mess).

Heat gun, or even a steam cleaner will do the job, try using a wooden scraper, it will not mark the gel-coat.

I did the same job just using a hair drier to soften the plastic and then a bit of a laborious peel-off job but it worked.

I bought some graphics from a Canadian company off the Internet and on their site was some good advice for removing the old ones; incidently I was very pleased with the new graphics they supplied which arrived quickly and very competitive price wise.
