So I recently had to replay my Standard Horizon CP180 Chartplotter as the aerial failed. I replaced it with a Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 5X/7XCV plotter. The issue I have is I previously used my old plotter to provide a NMEA feed to my ICOM DSC radio. The new Garmin plotter does not provide a GPS feed for other instrument very frustratingly. Is there an easy fix for this or am I looking at having to replace the fairly new radio?

More and more plotters are not including NMEA0183 these days, sorry to say it, but you need to read the specs before you buy. You can fit an external GPS antenna, lots on the likes of Ebay.

Which Icom VHF do you have ?

That's the type i meant in post #2, but yes, under deck usually works OK.

Depending on the model of VHF, one of these might be another option Icom UX-241 External GPS/GNSS Antenna
That is just the antenna. I think the OP requires the NMEA version. Available from Aliexpress for under £10 but you have to make sure you select 12v supply and 4800 baud.

You don't say what model of ICOM DSC radio you have. Most modern VHF radios have an internal GPS antenna.

I'm aware that it's an antenna, it says so in the link i provided ;)

Virtually every current model of Icom VHF has a built in receiver and uses the external antenna, with the exception of the IC-M510 EVO

But, without knowing the model that the OP has we don't know if he needs the NMEA version or the Icom antenna.

Yep unfortunately, I was heading over the Channel the following day and it was the only budget chartplotter available in Plymouth, so short on choices. Looks like from the comments a separate aerial is an easy fix.
