I used to be on that list years a go and it always took a few years, but it depends where you want to be I imagine the lock moorings down windsor way don't come up very often.

This is good news to see the EA supporting the boatowners and the character of the river, however I am confused because surely if their objections on the grounds of safety were applied to the existing residents they couldn't have stayed anyway.

No. The difference is residential boats v residential static boxes.

One of the objections is means of escape in the case of flood. On my boat, I start the engines, untie and move, not possible in a structure bolted to the riverbank with no means of propulsion.

Further, in flood conditions, my holding tank integrity is not compromised but a low level sewer (as would be required to service dwellings at or below river level) could leak and pose an environmental issue.

The actual objection document is quite long and lists numerous objections and details the reservations at length - I won't go into it here.

Suffice to say, the development looks very unlikely to get approval from the EA in any form.

Shame, I loved it there - all ruined for no reason.
