Well that's the starting price..... I do know of a diesel S23 that sold last Summer for £32k. There are lots of these for sale and they need to be loaded to get top dollar. I suspect there'll be quite a few more sensibly priced boats appearing as autumn speeds into view. In fact looking out the window it seems to have already arrived /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Must be getting desperate to sell if it's on eBay

Why? Ebay is a market place that attracts thousands of buyers daily, with TV advertising and a huge amount of marketing. Why should he be more desperate than paying £100 for an add in the back of MBM?
I thought he was auctioning it (Well technically he is). But I see now that his starting price is his asking price. My bad

We advertised our boat on e-bay and attracted a lot of interest, didn't sell it there though!
I think a lot of people expect you to give it away 'cos its e-bay.
Certainly a good and cheap medium for advertising.
We have our s240 on ebay at the moment, I will be honest & say many of the enquiries are from dreamers who think that because it's currently only £5000 your going to rip their arm off for £6000 cash.
But you do get market savy enquiries, especially from people who are looking to upgrade & know the true value.
It's good advertising, if you really dont want to sell on ebay but get interest going then place a high reserve (please wait untill mine finishes though).
I dont expect to sell through ebay but I will have a list of prospective purchasers at the end & if it's not too far off what I want then someone will get a second chance offer.
Getting back to the subject, I would think the s23 is a scam, there is a Bayliner 2755 being advertised by a genuine seller who is warning that his Ad has been ripped off & also appears on ebay for £4500 (in a private ad), the true seller wants £16000!

And therein lies the problem with ebay; there's too many scammers and con artists using it as a conduit for their fraudulent activities, not to mention those time wasting dreamers. Agree it gets you exposure, but IMHO any serious punter will find a for sale ad easily enough if placed on the B&O, boatshop24, apollo duck etc.
In fairness, you're not just going to 'Buy a boat' from eBay (Eventhough I bought a car from eBay and i'm happy with it 10k miles later!). Realisticly, you'r egonna contact the owner and arrange a viewing etc (Or could be a case of scammer trying to scam the scammer)
I can just picture it now 'Hello Sir, I wish to pay for your boat via. PayPal, how much should I add for shipping' /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
