Hi all, i have been boating inland and some coastal work for a few years and have had a few mobo like sealine 34, doral and various ribs and the like. I have my ICC and RYA quals

But I am lucky enough to have the use of an apartment and maybe the mooring in Mallorca (calador) - gratis, and want to get a day boat for fliting around the island, I've never owned, operated or used a boat in the med so looking for advice, please.

I am guessing diesel and probably 30-40' something I can go around the island inn and possibly over to Ibiza and other islands. something like 30-50K

Best options and anything before I venture into the med for the first time.

Obviously when the pandemic starts to ease (hopefully), but gives me time to start looking around

Jeanneau Leader 805 with a single diesel would tick a lot of boxes. Check out Aquaholic on YouTube, he gets great use out of his one. I think the canopy can be a bit fiddly but in the summer you will just need a tonneau cover and a Bimini in Mallorca

If you got on well with your S34, why not go back to that. We love our S37 and for the Med its great for us a week at a time and not overly expensive on marina fees. Sealine is not the most well known brand in the Med so you may find one in your budget.
It’s probably not economic to buy in the UK with EU VAT due.

I am based in Cala Dor. Lovely place

The first thing is how long is the berth ? Yan the marina manager will not usually allow over size boats on the berths. Remember width is critical in the med.

Ibiza can of course be done but bear in mind from Cala dor it is some 4 hours so you need a sea worthy boat. If going that distance you want more than a day boat which then rules out things like Axopar.

There are plenty of local anchorages.

All I can say is your very lucky to have an opportunity like that so make the most of it , right boat choice etc .
make sure you get it surveyed both structure and machinery as that where the cost can spiral especially out there if it goes bang .

Thanks, as I said I'm new to the med boating wise. I have no idea about the mooring yet as the details are in the apartment, which I can't get to. The owner has bequeathed it to me so know nothing yet..exciting tho

Raise the budget to around 100 k and get an Itama 38 If it fits the berth ? .
Shaft drive on CATs plenty of sun pad area .2 cabins 4 berths and “ seaworthy “ enough to circumnavigate the island as you wish .
Aged Volvo Penta outdrives will be unreliable money pits .

Here ha chtod

Just never ever use the water off the quay. I used to be there and had to change the hot water filament whatever it is called at least twice a season. Since i left have not had to change once! The water there should be classified as hazardous!! Otherwise agree especially if you have younger kids

Hi, we are interested in a Windy 37 Open to bring back to the UK. I've gone onto the website of your broker but it doesn't mention the hours on the engines. Do you have any idea? Cheers Peter

I have just tried to view your dads boat using the link you provided. I was unable to get the webpage to work (on my IPad). It did not scroll to allow viewing of the photos or details.

Hi Julian, I would if I could! Only just got onto ybw after a friend mentioned he had seen your post about the Windy. I have another ffiend that lives in Mallorca who is going to have a look at the boat this week. If you could PM me your contact details?
