Globe Blue impellers

Has any one used Globe Blue Impellers (from ASAP).?
I bought two for my IGM10 last year and with the second one this weekend both have cracked. The impeller rubber is firmly attached to the insert but as they have cracked the spindle just rotates, as the crack allows the whole thing to stretch, with the blade turning. Neither ran dry, though they are meant to cope with that, may be its water they don't like! Both failed as soon as the engine was started. I remember when I bought a Speed Seal the manufacture said not to use them but I didn’t listen.

I have used them with no problem on a Petter minitwin but on my 1GM10 they will not always prime, I also have a speed seal but have not had the problem you are having, I have reverted back to Yanmar impellors.

Oddly enough, this is the same problem I had with the Globe blue impellers when I fitted them to my Bukh DV20. They worked when new, but over a period of time, although they looked in perfect condition, failed to prime the engine water.

I eventually replaced it with an old impeller - the one that the Globe replaced!

I had the normal cover on the Johnson water pump.

Interesting to find someone else with the same problem.

Interesting, I bought 2 as spares at the boat show for a macerator pump, went to fit one of them 2 years later..... & the d drive was the wrong size!!!, likewise the second. fortunately had a 3rd jabsco one in the locket to get me out of the poo.

didnot think asap would be interested so long after, so did not contact them.
